I have a 200 TDI (92) Disco and my viscus fan has failed. Replacemnt with LR is $A350 or I can use (2) 12 or 14 inch Davis Craig fans which come in slightly cheaper (not rrealy the queation). The Davis Craig fans of this size are sealed units, they have a 16 inch model but it has exposed windings and hence is of no use. The advantage of the eletric fan(s) are that if they go again then I can get replacement motors for $100 each.

I replaced both air con fans with Davis Crage fans @ $100 each, compared with LR $A600 each and they haven't missed a beat. If I take the eletric option then, if the main fan(s) were to go in the bush I could just swap it with the air con fan(s) motor.

Ideas.
