| need series III rebirth help Posted by Michael on November 29, 2000 at 14:42:18: I have just purchased a 74 series III and will start revamping asap. I am new to the process and would like some advice on where to begin. I am considering rebuilding engine and trans first, trans pops out of gear(s) regularly and the engine pings, rattles, and looks like its bleeding to death. My goal is to go over all compoents and repair or replace what warrents it. Oh by the way I want to do as much as possible myself. My bigest question is will the block have to be machined? I have seen many ads for replacement/ refurbished engines that state " machined to OEM specs", does this mean all engines have to be machined? If anyone can give me some advice on a game plan it would help me from having to re-invent the wheel. Also I'm located in the Atlanta, GA area of the states and would like to meet other owners in the area. thanks
