SIII steering and braking question.

Posted by Mark Szylkarski in OZ on November 02, 2000 at 18:53:52:

I have a 1973 SIII SWB. I have recently serviced the front end. replaced PIN/Bush and bearing in the swivel hubs. new. new brake cylinders, new front pads. Replaced ball joints/steering relay (what a swine of job). New shokers. New tyres and have had a wheel alignment done. that was about 3 months ago. I know have a problem where the car pulls to the left... not badly it just feels like it wants to follow the camber of the road. I have also noticed that if I apply the brakes suddenly the truck veers to the left.

No loss of brake fluid from the system, however I have not had a chance to inspect the pads yet.

Their is a very small amount of play in the right wheel bearings both front and rear. This I will address on the weekend, but I am uncertain if this is the cause of the steering and braking problems.

The only other thing that I can think of is the spring bushes. I have not replaced these yet and some of them need replacing, is this the cause of the problem? I don't know.

Can anyone offer any advice here.

Regards
