1973 range rover

I've just bought the above vehicle and would be grateful for some info before I start the restoration.

I experienced severe judder, which was cured by dropping the tyre pressure from 40 psi (!) Is this just caused by incorrect preload on the swivels or is there any other factors involved?

The manual steering box needs a good service as does the rest of the steering column. I have quite a lot of play in the steering. Any tips?

There is a Perkins 3.3 in at the moment, but I've found a VM 2.4 turbo out of a SD1. The VM has the bellhousing attached. Will the engine swap be reasonably straightforward? Are the engine-chassis mounts different? The Perkins was actually fitted by Milners themselves in the early eighties.

On driving home along the motorway, the rear tyres got quite warm. Any ideas? Is this normal? I had 25psi in and they've not got a lot of tread on them.

Once I've fitted the VM engine, will I be able to fit power steering? There will probably be a pump attached to the engine from the SD1, is it compatible with a RR one?

The lower tailgate is aluminium, is this standard? Can I get a lighter bonnet, such as Aluminium or Fibreglass? Will a heated front screen from a late RR fit my vehicle?

Phew! enough already!

Thanking everyone in advance.

Sean
