I've used the "U's" welded to the front frame to literally yank my waterlogged disco out of a mudhole with a chain. No problem, except for deformation of the plastic air dam hanging down in the way, and the fact that I had to go swimming to attach to these "out-of-the-way" recov points. I now latch onto the rings incorporated into my LR brush bar. I've also used the rear rings welded to the rear frame to pull stuck vehicles - rings will swivel a bit if not bolted tightly. Then there's always the frame-welded hitch to use as a recovery point. These vehicles are INDEED made for off-road use, and it's inevitable that you'll get stuck at some point.
