Retro-fit kit turbo for 2.5 diesel Naturally Aspirated at least were
available in Great Brittain, I presume they still are.
Please note that 2.5Diesel Turbo and 2.5 200Tdi as well as 300Tdi are
in essential details different to the 2.5d NA: additional oil cooling
of pistons, different pistons, etc. I am not fully knowledgeable into
the finer details, but I do remember an article which summarised
major differences between 2.5d NA and 2.5d Turbo, perhaps the 2.5d is
quite a completely different engine when looked upon in detail (already
the compression ratio is lower to avoid overstressing, one of the
reasons that the 2.5 diesel turbo is not famous for its winter cold
start performance).
Addition of turbo in effect may result in notable decrease of
running hours of the engine. Same story with other diesels, 3.5 5 cyl.
Mercedes diesel NA is in detail substantially different from the
3.5 5 cyl. Turbo engine.
Replacement of 2.5d with 200Tdi may bring the desired benefits.
Kindest Regards, Cees Willig
