Roller Rockers and Superchargers for more performance

Posted by Bob Sadler on October 16, 2000 at 23:19:09:

I have a 1992 year model Range Rover that has now been fitted with a 1999 4.6 litre short motor to replace the original 3.9 litre job. It is a 5 speed manual and the last of the coil road spring variety. It has also had a Unichip piggy back engine management system fitted.

The performance is now quite satisfactory for normal driving being just a bit slower than the local 4 litre Ford Falcons and 3.8 litre Holden Commadore's off the mark. However I use it for heavy towing and would like even better pulling power.

Roller rockers were all the go in the local V8 racing sedans, does anyone have actual experience with them in the Rover motors, particuarly with long periods at high revs in 3rd gear (typically).

Some locals are also experimenting with low pressure superchargers, any experience anyone.

Regards from downunder.
