Engine Surges

Posted by Marc on October 15, 2000 at 20:42:14:

I am having a reoccuring problem with the engine surging when the vehicle is traveling at speeds over 40 mph. Example: If I am going 70 mph on the highway, the vehicle will surge from 70 to 65 and back to 70 to 65 to 70. This may happen once or twice in the span of 40 miles, or it may not happen at all. It is as though I am removing my foot from the throttle, yet the throttle does not change positions. This will occur with the cruise control engaged or disengaed. The check engine light does not come on.

A Land Rover dealership said the computer was showing an error code of 300, said that is a general error code (soft error code) installed a new fuel pump, this did not fix the problem. The tech mentioned eprom chips on the vehicle had already been replaced. This problem is starting to occur more frequently.

Any suggestions.

Vehicle has 57K miles
