Their only legal alternative is to build them up from parts which gives them the distinction of being 'home-made' like a kit car. Apparently different rules then apply to registration etc. The Defenders 'repros' are actual Defenders just not ones put together in Solihull rather assembled from Solihull's rather extensive parts list. The rest of us can only laugh. Only in America..........
