| re-gearing of diffs 110 Posted by alex uy on October 05, 2000 at 05:31:13: Hi! I am an owner of 97 defender 110 Tdi here in the Philippines. I have installed Michelin XLs 9.00X16 or 36". My inquiry is about installing ring and pinions from a series II with a ratio of 4.7 to accomodate the large tires and to gain back the power loss. Can this be possible? One of our club members already did the conversion but his top cruising speed was only 80kmh compared to 120kmh before. What can be the remedies for such? Or is the 4.7 not suitable for re-gearing? What can we use in order to maximize the efficiency of the engine with 36" tires? This is the only re-gearing kit we could acquire due to the unavailability of kits for the Salisbury axle. Thanks.
