I suppose it will be on your check list, but just to make sure, as
consequences are serious:
Note valve dump MUC2417 on side air intake diesel, this tiny valve
caused failure of incident mentioned in earlier email (water in
intercooler), the owner of that (former LR, as the vehicle was lost)
used Tectyl too abundantly as rust preventive, on the valve dump it
caused this rubber valve to stay too much open, so water could come in.
Standard this intake duct may not be water tight enough, check.
Air filter also features dump valve, same story.
Check oil level dip stick oil seal, perhaps replace with thicker one.
Check gear selection lever (main & hi/lo) rubbers on water tightness.
Check electricity items, prevent short circuits.
Install mass switch near - pole of battery. (Note we use hvy duty
Caterpillar batteries as from 1983, with exceptional winter performance).
Military alternators are as far as I know sufficient water tight,
in Europe mil. use 24 V system with huge alternator.
Kindest Regards, Cees Willig
