It really is down to how you drive. My Discovery has done 96K miles and I have a real mix of local and main road driving. I also tow a 4x4 Trialler and a horsebox on a regular basis. If you are a gentle user of the loud pedal you should see 34 mpg unladen and around 25-27 towing. If, like me, you enjoy your motoring, then 26-28 unladen and 22 when towing is fairly common. Either way, if you're driving a Disco, you are driving the best road-going 4x4 ever. I also (in a mad moment) bought a Range Rover, for no other reason than it was cheap - I had harboured thoughts of using it as a tow vehicle whilst swopping the Disco for something a wee bit hairier for everyday use. I was wrong. The Rangie was not a patch on the Disco for towing. The extra rear overhang made handling a very unsettling affair, and there was not nearly as good rearward visibility. I reckon that nearly 100K miles without missing a beat is a fair testimonial. Go for it !!!!!! Keith
