1997 & 1998 Discovery Posted by Matthew on May 17, 1998 at 11:33:53: I'm in the market for a new vehicle, leaning heavily toward a 1998 Discovery. This forum has been a great learning experience--I've gleaned from it that the concerns over Land Rover reliability seem well founded and well documented for earlier model years. 1994 and 1995 appear to be the problem years. In the spirit of 'no news is good news', I'm optimistic that I haven't found many, if any, negative comments about the 1997 and 1998 models. However, this doesn't entirely assauge my fears. I would love some feedback--positive or negative--from anyone who owns a 1997 or 1998 Discovery. A virtual show of hands--buy it or don't buy it--would suffice. I've been fortunate with owning a couple of very reliable Japanese cars. I acknowledge that Land Rover may not be able to compare to the luck I've had in the past, but I'm hopeful that it won't be far from it. Thanks for your input.
