Michael, I agree that to most people a Discovery looks quite top heavy. Contrary to looks, the majority of a Discovery's weight is at the frame level. Understand that this is a VERY heavy vehicle riding on relatively soft springs. On the road you will feel quite a bit of body roll, however in most cases any fear of rolling can be dismissed. I drive my Discovery daily with no sway bars attached, and yes I feel a lot of body roll. It is something that I have become accustomed to. With sway bars you have a bit less body roll, but you still have some. Remember, this is a vehicle that was designed to be used off road. As with any other SUV, in an evasive maneuver where you steer hard one direction then steer immediately back the other, you are very likely to roll over. It is not a car; drive it accordingly. Take some time to get accustomed to the way that your Discovery drives. You will get used to it.
