COIL SPRING FOR 109"

Posted by Krisman Bahar on May 02, 1998 at 11:57:06:

I read in the recent article of Land Rover World there an advertisement about changing 88" or 109" into a coil spring unit similar to 90 or 110 unit. It was done by DESIGNA CHASSIS.

Since importing the whole chassis unit to Indonesia will cost a lot of money, I then considering of making the modification myself here in Indonesia. Does anyone knows the set back in making this arrangement? And whether it is possible and yet still safe to drive it?

I discussed the mattters with the local garage that will do the conversion, he suggested me to find the real DEFENDER ' suspension arms such as :

FRONT : Radius Arm and bush assembly - 2 unit
REAR : Bottom link assembly - 2 unit

The above is a must in addition to the normal coil spring from Land Rover, etc. Is the chassis of 109 is actually the same with 110, except on the wheel base ?

Best regards,
Krisman
