Series III 2.5 Diesel \ Gearing too low \Can turbo be fitted ?

Posted by Buzz on April 30, 1998 at 17:11:29:

Hi, we have recently fitted our 1984 Series III with a 2.5 N/A dieselwhere it used to have a 2.25 diesel. There is great power on the flat but when it comes to climbing hills it seems to take a dive 30 MPH in 3rd gear but changing to 2nd is too low and makes the engine howl.Iam thinking of fitting an overdrive unit, maybe the half gears will help. Any other ideas?. Also would I be able to fit a turbo to this engine without over stressing the transmission or would it be of no benifit?.
Maybe I am too used to the relative power of our SII 2.25 petrol.

Thanks for the input
Buzz
