John - my diesel 90 (non-turbo) does 28-30 mpg but you'll need at least 3000 pounds for something with an MOT. Suggest you go for a pre-1973 series since anything over 25yrs gets FREE car tax! The overall running costs between petrol and diesel arn't as good as the 150 pounds per year you'll save on tax. You'll also get cheaper/easier to fit parts in an older series model and lots more waves from other landies - I hardly get any in my 90!

Paul
