Recently, my landie broke down with a total electrical failure. Nothing would work except the horn and the starter.
After many hours checking cables and fuses etc. , I traced the fault to the charge guage. There was input current, but no output.
It was caused by the soft copper contacts within the guage becoming dirty.
After cleaning them carefully (they are very fragile) all worked OK.
The guage itself is very delicate, so great care is required during the strip down and reassembly.

The Horn and starter are fed direct from the main feed, so are therefore not affected by the guage.
