Do you have lots of keys on your key ring? If yes, remove all but Rover keys.
They can damage the switch, but what normally happens is the back of the switch, where the wires & connectots clip on, it comes lose and can cause engine to shut off at will. Pull cover and take a peak.
ANother thing to check is for arcing of IGN wires and coil, run engine in dark... watch for light show.
