Who needs a four wheel drive ?
Last year my wife (lyn) and I decided to embark on a trip that we had wanted to do for a long time
We live in Australia so we flew to England and looked around for a vehicle to buy for this trip. We did not know what conditions to expect and people told us to expect to be robbed and maybe get the vehicle to be stolen or trashed so we bought a cheap second hand front wheel drive car (£400).
The country we were gong to was Russia And we had the lonely planet book to give us some guidence.
We spent 6 months driving from England to Vladivostock and back again(38.000 miles) and found the people to be some of the most friendly and helpful people that we have met in the world and we have travelled extensively
We hope to go back again this time with a Land Rover because we had a few problems mainly suspension and getting parts for the vehicle.
So the answer to the question at the beginning is that I need a 4*4 (I own a 1976 SWB Series III Hardtop Which is fitted with overdrive and runs on LPG)
