Diversity tuning is a neat trick where a radio receiver actually has two receivers on two seperate antennas. As you probably have noticed, normal FM radios suffer the "picket fence effect" when travelling in an area with lots of hard surfaces (buildings) or in a marginal signal area so that the signal varies a lot causing a sort of fft fft sound within the signal. By using two receivers, the stronger signal is automatically used and this dramatically reduces this problem. I do not know if these radios uses this system but that is what a true "diversity" system does.
