Hi Brent, I live in Northern Scotland and ski too. We also have salt everywhere. We have LOTS of Land Rovers here. I would not buy a Discovery. They may be comfortable but...Yes they rust, and their electronics have given many of my friends BIG problems. I have a Defender 110 turbo-diesel. They have less electronics to worry about, are very very comfortable in County spec. and with appropriate care will last forever. Mine is 10 years old, 120,000 miles on and runs beautifully. I give the chassis a two yearly rust treatment inside and out, and it is perfect so far. Lots of rear room too, and spares are cheaper (here at least) than for Discovery. Can you sweet-talk your good lady into something other than the Discovery? Best wishes in your vehicle huntJohn
