A recent Land Rover Owner International issue mentioned starting off in 2nd gear to avoid breaking a half-shaft. Starting from 1st in my '65 SIIA is often jerky and harsh. I have tried this method and it does offer a smoother take away. Will this cause premature wear on the clutch plate, bearing, etc.?
