G'dat

My experience with 200tdi and 300tdi is that they blow a little smoke on starting but not a lot otherwise. A good hard drive with a heavy load does wonders but it soulds as if yours if overfueling or is too far advanced.

Diesels MUST be correctly timed and it would be worth paying to have the timing checked by a diesel expert.

You could also pay for an MOT check and if it fails, uyou have evidence to give your dealer. My experience with dealers it that you could struggle in with an engine that was scraping on the ground and they would try to tell you this is a feature of the design.
