G'day

Land Rovers have been made in various types since 1948. They were produced by the Rover Company of England as a post was stop gap. The original prototype was built on a Jeep chassis. Extensive use was made of Aluminium as steel was hard to get in post was Britain but aircraft grade Aluminium was abundant. The early vehicles were even painted in "cockpit green" paint wnich I guess was cheap.

In Australia they are relatively common but in the US and Canada they are relatively rare. For more info see my site and the links to other sites in particluar the Sofcom site which has pictures and info on just about every type. In the UK they are as common as Jeeps are in the US.

My site is the sordid story of my land Rover addiction and does not have many pictures yet but the Sofcom site has lots.

Michael
