G'day

Some years ago a friend purchased a new Range Rover from a dealer and all went well until at about 10000 miles, the gearbox self destructed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they rebuilt the gearbox under the warranty.
All went well for about 3000 miles and the gearbox blew up a second time. This time the dealer claimed my friend was partly to blame and would only do the job if he paid half. This he reluctantly did.
3000 miles later the gearbox expired again. AAAAAAAGH! The dealer said it must be "driver error" and refused to do the job unless it was all paid for.
My friend was becoming desperate and so he worked out when it would be about 7pm at Sollihul and he rang the Land Rover head office. He figured (quite rightly) that at 7pm in the evening, the only people still in the office would be bosses or cleaners.
The phone was answered by someone who listened to my friends sad tale and told him to present himself to the head office in Australia the following morning and all would be sorted out.
When he arrived next morning and said who he was, everyone was falling over backwards to be nice to him. To cut a long story short, he demanded and got a new vehicle. It turned out that a batch of faulty main shafts had found their way into new vehicles and were causing all the problems.
Go straight to the top seems one way to go if you are game. If you have a good case it usually works. I had a similar result here by going straight to the Serivce Manager for Australia.
