Whilst touring through Europe towing 2000kgs, I set the crise control to 65mph. All is fine until ascending gradients which reduced the speed accordingly. However, once the speed dropped to 50mph, the vehicle changed down a gear in an attempt to maintain speed. Now the problem, if the automatic change of gear failed to maintain the speed, the cruise control 'dropped out'. This had the effect like of running out of diesel whilst driving up hill. After a couple of times I learnt to back the accelerator pedal up with my foot. To summerise, should the cruise control quit when the going gets tough?
