I can't believe what I read Re check straps.
For years friends ran around the Victorian Alps in series 2 and 3 LWB Land Rovers without check straps. All we did was ran Range Rover rear shocks and found the extra wheel travel a major improvement.
I will ad there was no ill effect on prop shafts, uni joints or any other drive line component. Shackle bushes may chop out a little quicker as a resolt of the increased wheel travel, but hey you can't have everything. I wouldn't waist my money on replaceing them.
