An Answer to Land Rover DISCOVERY Problems...??

Hi there, I just got off the phone with our local Land Rover Dealer (Seattle) discussing why many owners of Land Rover Discovery's are having "MAJOR" problems with their vehicle. The DISCO I want to purchase is a '96 and hads only 24,000 miles and has had many gaskets replaced. The service guy told me that in other countries the demands on a vehicle aren't as tough as in the US. The gasket problems are caused because Land Rover uses CORK gaskets vers. the rubber ones used by other car manufactures. So if you have had engine leaks and have had them fixed recently they have prob. been replaced it the new rubber ones. Please post or email and let me know if this is true or a run-around... Thanks, Danny
