Ford V6 exchange for Tdi

Posted by KeithW on July 18, 1999 at 11:11:10:

Anyone tried this? One advantage is that I hear you can buy
a Ford 3,4 litre V6 (the new one, not taht ancient Essex engine)
as a part number for a little over R11000 here in RSA, whereas just to replace the diesel injector pump on the Tdi will set you back half as much again. I also have a feeling that it is cheaper to run a Defender with a petrol engine than the good old Tdi 300 which costs every year in cam belts, overheated and bent heads, diesel injector and turbo charger problems etc. It's the total cost at the end of the year, stupid!
Anyone want a Tdi engine - maybe I have one available.
And anothe r advantage, there are no electronics on the Ford.
