greetings from los angeles,m we have large hill climbing grades and i never turn off a/c because i know the disco and what has been serviced and not. they say the a/c puts a load on the engine plus the coondenser coil upfront giving off extra heat(the heat from inside your disco),i donot agree the old a/c compressors did require more power to turn them but todays compressors require alot lesss i heard 2-3 horsepoower, big deal!!!, know your disco and leave the air on, but if you just drive it and have no idea about truck maintenance, turn it off. happy motoring
