Larry: You didn't mention if this only happens when it's cold out or when it's warm as well. The reason I mention this is that I have had a problem that sounds similar with GM vehicles, but really only in the colder months. The problem was that the customer would drive a short distance to thier destination (5 min. or there abouts-depending on the ambient temp.) turn the vehicle off and then not be able to start it when they got back into it 5 min. later, they would usually end up flooding the vehicle, let it sit for 20 min. to half an hour and then when they went to try it again it would fire right up the way it was supposed to do the first time. The reason for this was that the engine was only just starting to warm up and still needed the electric choke but the choke had warmed up enough to be turned off. The quick fix is to let the engine run a little bit longer so that the engine is as warm as the choke thinks it is. the other thing that we used to do was to replace the original choke with an after market unit and presto, problem solved. All you have to do is take your truck the long way to the store so that it's been running for about ten min. If, when you hop back into your vehicle it fires right up, you'll know that it was a temp. problem(engine not warm enough) Now, that was ten years ago and we haven't run into tat problem for a long time so then brand names that we used has long since gone the way of those formulas that the teachers told you that you'd never use and that you never did. I hope that this helps. Good luck. Dan. '61 SII 88" HT.
