Hi, again,
As you've seen from my previous massage, I've got a "cat" now and I'm happy with it.
Re: Benzene levels in ULP: this is what Australia's EPA (www.erin.gov.au) has to say:

"Do pre-1986 vehicles need catalytic converters to use unleaded petrol?

No.

Retrofitting of catalytic converters is not necessary.

There has been a lot of media attention given to the emissions of pre-1986 cars using unleaded petrol and
especially about benzene. This attention has largely been based on fuel specifications and data from overseas.
The CSIRO recently completed a study of emissions from Australian cars. A small number of cars not fitted with
catalytic converters, were tested using both leaded and unleaded petrol. The results show substantially lower
emissions of hydrocarbons, including benzene, using unleaded petrol compared with leaded petrol. These results
can be attributed to more efficient combustion in the absence of lead."
