In North America you can't do much better than a standard Delco Remy with the built in regulator. I just put one in again (newly aquired 2a). A sliding bracket on the bottom for the bottom mount/pivot and s slight bend in the top adjuster. There are only 2 wires required, 1 is the power going to your system, like your battery or ammeter. The other is from the charge light on the dash. There is a 3rd wire but it isn't required to be hooked up if it is jumpered, ask and automotive electronics shop and they will probably offer some free advice.
