Sorry to hear you ran into a bit of misfortune.
The thing is to stop complaining and buy a Toyota then.
Mind you, when next travelling acrossAfrica and you have a
problem, try getting a spare for that this side of Christmas! I know many people who have driven Land Rovers across Africa
and most of then succeed with a smile on their face. FYI. The first Camel Trophy was contested in Jeeps, but muddy
remote rain forests proved too much for the poor little Jeep,
so the following year Land Rovers were used, proving their
superior off-road ability. The Discos used today are pretty much
production line spec, bar the rollcage and snorkel. What most Americans fail to remember is that Land Rovers are designed
as off-road vehicles, not as highway run-arounds. Ideally you should
have a regular more reliable vehicle designed for on-road use (like a
Jeep) for day-to-day transportation, and a Land Rover to play with at
weekends. Although the majority of Land Rovers can do both jobs equally
well and have no problems what so-ever. Teething problems are usually
sorted out under warranty in the first few years. So anyhow, enjoy your Jeep, mind that puddle in the road there! :-)
