GEE Ted...This is like looking in a mirror. You have an 89 rangerover with uncooperative radio, bad switches and a rusted out tailgate. Me too.
My window was taped shut when I bought the car last new years. The duct tape worked untill An offroading trip in February, wasn't strong enough for the bumps. Thats when I discovered bungy cords. One or two long bungees from your reciever through the handle up to either a roofrack, or your wiper arm mount will hold it pretty well. I have an aluminum frame kit from the uk. DAP and famous for sell them for about $200 plus shipping(expect another $1-200), you reuse all your old lockparts and your old glass. I'm lazy and still putting the frame together, so I still have the ratty old window and bungee combination.
If your frame itself isnt bad...only the latches, or only the bottom crossbar, you can order the various parts individually.
