I'm not an expert on the Discovery, and I certainly wouldn't suggest that you mess around with your '97, but I definitely would not pay that kind of money for a wiring harness. Personally, I would get the wire and connectors from RadioShack and do it myself.
Of course, since I know nothing about the Discovery, I can't tell you how to do it. Maybe somebody else has an idea about that. Or just find anyone who knows about electricity and a bit about cars.
