Hi Guys
Method is OK for quick fix, but broken stub and resulting grinding leads to metallic residue in oil (checked similar failure a while ago with spectographic oil analysis, it was DIRTY, also lots of visible splinters of steel in sample) which WILL damage pinion bearings and gears. So do the job properly ASAP or prepare for secondary damage.
