I'm about to replace front and rear brake pads and
possibly replace my left front rotor (or brake disc).
Can anyone out there tell me why Land Rover recommends
REPLACING the rotor instead of TURNING the rotor? (At
least, according to my local dealer, this is the case...)

To Joan-
My advice to you is "sell now" before you pour more money
into the [Land Rover Discovery] black hole. I have a '95
Disco, and to list ALL the problems I've had with it
would be too time comsuming (but to vent a little...I've
replaced the transmission, had the starter rebuilt,
done work on the speedometer, the alarm system, the
blinker and tail lights, had various and sundry leaks,
and now the brake system failure). These are just the
highlights.

There are SO MANY other things that have gone wrong, I
can't honestly remember them all. As soon as I get the
brakes in better shape, I'm following my own advice...
