Series Rover Stereo Issues

Posted by Lo on July 26, 2007 at 16:37:59:

I have very unobtrusively installed an in-dash stereo (CD player) below the dash on my 1975 SWB Series III. All was going well for roughly 4 years until last month. One day my stereo just wouldn't turn on. When it randomly did, all of the buttons would make the radio scan up only. I bought a new deck (Pioneer) and installed it. It sounds great when the vehicle is on ACC, but upon turning the engine on, I get serious feedback (buzzing popping, that changes with engine speed)
I have been told a range of things from,
1) try regrounding the stereo
2) moving stereo wires away from the power wires
3) issues with non-resistant spark plugs or faulty spark plug cables.

Does anyone have any ideas? The radio, as it stands now, is so distorted that it is totally unlistenable. Thanks, LK
