| Series II fixed window replacement Posted by Chuck Long on December 13, 2006 at 06:12:50: First, to make it easier to work, remove the top part of the door (the window frame) by taking off the two nuts and pulling up on the frame. To replace the fixed front window you must remove all window tracts. Small screws hold the tracts in place; the screws are somewhat difficult to find, especially if the window tracts are rusty. On the bottom tract, due to rust, I was required to use a very small cold chisel to loosen the screws until I could twist them out with needle-nosed pliers. In order to remove the sliding window I had to drill out the two pop-rivits and remove the window lock. I ordered the window and tracts but there is also a rubber strip that is required to fit the fixed glass. I bought a door threshold and made the strips from that. I used contact cement to put the strips in place on the window/door frame. Call me at (757) 482-2265 if you have questions. It is not a terribly difficult job if you are handy and patient.
