Okay here is the problem,

1990 RR, 3.9V8i, 120K miles. one owner.

The problem is so intermitant that I can not pin it down. I have tried to
clean out the plenum but that did not work. I tried cleaning the stepper
motor but that did not work.

I will be driving along and the power will just cut out, I can back all the
way off of the throttle and get to somewhere where I can pull over and then
just turn the car off and on and usaually it is okay on the next start.
Sometimes I need to do this a few times and then it will be fine. When the
problems happens if I try to give full throttle is sounds like it is back
firing and missing or not enought air or not enough fuel, I just don't know.
My friend said that is not the fuel pump, I don't know how he arrives at
that conclusion. It has a new fuel filter, so I don't think that is the
problem. The TSP looks fairly new, this is the unit that has two screws
holding it in the plenum, correct? I looked at the ECU and it has a sticker
on it that says fitted by LUCAS 11/9/93, now this seems strange since the
vehicle is a 1990. That is my assumption, so I would think that is my next
alternative to send the ECU to the UK and have them recondition it. Sometimes
upon starting the car it goes into this loss of power mode, then it will
sometimes clear itself. The car idles fine, but what about the Mass Air
Flow Sensor??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike Ziebell
