Greetings from Australia

I have toyed with the idea of using poly bushes but so far I have kept to the originals.
A friend used them on a Triumph 2500S and found the car handled much
better but was noisier and much harsher. Despite this, I dont think
they could possibly make a LR harsher.

You should be able to cut them as they are not located so much by their
fit in the spring eye as by the flanges at the ends.

As for the steering relay, they are always a close fit so I guess as long
as it fits it will be OK. If you file a little off the already thick casing it
should still be OK.

GOOD LUCK. Rebuilding a Land Rover from the chassis up is a labour
of love. I am presently building up a 1951 model and driving a 1978
6 cyl 109 and a Discovery 200tdi. I also have a 1968 LWB in reserve.

All the best

Michael

PS When you replace theb busher, donn't tighten the shackle pins straight away.
Give the springs a time to settle before you fully tighten them else the
bushes will be torn. They must be tightened at the centre of their travel.
