.180 bullet connectors(electrical)

Posted by Geoff Tobin on November 03, 2005 at 15:22:01:

While responding to the question on rewiring a IIA I could not remember the manufacturer of the better quality .180 bullet connectors found on Series Land-Rovers and other British Vehicles. The manufacturer is Hollingsworth. Male Part No. XMP9646SN, Female Pt. No.FP5337F. These connectors are rated for 18 to 14 gage wire.

With a little more digging I have found that Molex also has them listed in their catalog (snap plugs)
Gage M/F Insulation Pt. No.
14-16 M Nylon B-579
14-16 M Nylon B-879 (Longer)
14-16 M PVC B-279X
14-16 F Nylon BRB-8180N
14-16 F PVC BRB-8180

As for where to purchase the desired connectors, look for an electronics supply. The Waldom web site was not much help; although they may have the parts. Molex/Waldom is one company but different part numbers. Digi-Key has none of the .180 connectors in their system. I could not come up with anything at Allied Electronics. Newark In One recognizes the part numbers but has no stock. To get these it will probably be a special order minimum order qty. 100 ea, and a cost of $15 to $25/100.
