Had same problem the first time I disconnected the battery years ago. Rang LR with serial, chassis no etc and confirmed that all was correct, even serial no of radio against chassis no. Through casual conversation found a nice chap at dealer ( a french car make!) who could read them. Code in book was wrong, cost £5. Apparently it's a common problem but they can be read with the right software.
