Jim,
Not sure of the layout for your model, but I just changed the #2 & #3 wires on a 2003 Disco. (I had a post but no one responded, and I couldn't wait) so here is what I did, hope it helps.
First I removed the two nuts (10mm using an open end wrench) on the silver high pressure coolant line bracket (located on the back of the motor, just above the coil).
Next I removed the clamps and hoses on both ends of the high pressure coolant line. I also had to disconnect the two heater coolant lines. I was then able to slide the silver high pressure coolant line out of the way.
Next I removed only one wire and traced it back to the coil, and removed it (a long screw driver works great to pop it off). Only do one wire at a time, if you have to remove another , just keep track of what you remove and where it goes back to).
Yes it's tight back there, but if you don't want to tear apart the engine to replace the wires, that is how I did it on a 2003 disco.
Take your time and you can do it. Hope this helps.
not sure what the shop manual calls for, but I would be interested in what it says to do. Also how long they allow for the job. Let me know how you make out.
