Well, I figured out that the plenum is the air intake into the valve
cover. I bought some GumOut carborator cleaner, took off the hose
between the valve cover and the Lucus air flow sensor, opened the
butterfly valve by putting a brick on the gas pedal, and sprayed it
full of the cleaner.

It appears to be idling much smoother now! Thanks for your help.
I'm definately going to order the maintainence manual...
