Just finished looking at my Camel Trophy Video Xmas present, jolly good it was too, they were using snowchains all the time. Question is were they using standard wheels and tyres on their 2.0 lt diesel Freelanders? Presumably what L-R are saying is if you purchase L-R snow chains for the Freelander they won't fit anything other than 195/80 tyres. Why not buy a set of chains (other than L-R)that are designed for 215/65. Be careful that you check suspension clearance on full lock to lock. I can't see a problem - maybe got wrong end of the stick?
