Agree with the approach, but take care to support the tranny really well and to slide it in and out with putting load on the main gearbox input shaft. A pupose built (or devised) double sling fitting the chassis rails really help, specially in the bush where you do not have a solid floor to support it on. Also use a proper (not broomstick) centering tool for the clutch friction plate otherwise you may also end up calling on all kind of automotive gods for help!
Its easier the more platework you remove but if you have a good repertoire of swearwords you can do it by removing the absolute minimum as suggested.
