After fitting the timing belt modification to my Discovery in February 2003 I have encountered real problems. The replacement timing gear has a plate on the end, which is spot welded on. This plate has now come off at least 4 times, and wrecked the belt each time. Once off it eventualy becomes really sharp, and cuts through the belt. I wish I had never changed it, at least the old kit just worn the edge off the belt!
